Audrey Pauline Elder’s Birth Story ~ 8.21.12 ~ 5:54 am ~ 7 lbs, 7 oz

Audrey’s parents, Lyra and Lee Elder, were model students of Portland Hypnobabies. I am so proud of them!

Please feel free to share their story with friends and family so the world can learn how peaceful birth can be.

Audrey Pauline Elder’s Birth Story ~ 8.21.12 ~ 5:54 am ~ 7 lbs, 7 oz

We transferred our care to Andaluz Watherbirth Center Monday morning (8.20.12) at 41 weeks and 5 days, only 2 days to 42 weeks, the day our OB wanted us to induce.  Our initial intake appointment at Birth Center was at 4 pm Monday afternoon, at that point I was having some “different” feeling pressure waves and I had been experiencing some new cramping sensations for the past few days.

After our appointment, my husband, Lee and I went out to Vietnamese downtown and had some spicy Pho soup and went for a walk along the waterfront.  At this point, I was experiencing manageable pressure waves and we noticed they seemed to be occurring a bit more consistently, about every 20-30 minutes apart.  After our walk we headed home, with a lot of excitement and anticipation of “could this really be IT? ~ finally, the day we have been waiting for these 10 long months.

Farrah’s Hypnobabies Birth

••This post comes all the way from Canada, shared with permission from Carlie Condon (Mom) and Jenn King, a fellow Hypnobabies instructor and all around great human!••

Let me start off by saying in no uncertain terms that I credit Jenn and the Hypnobabies program with the beauty and peace I experienced during the birth of my second child, Farrah Rosalynd.  Her birth is singularly the most awe-inspiring feat of my body and mind that I have ever accomplished.

Farrah is now almost six months old and this is a re-writing of my original birth story that was quickly typed out during a newborn’s nap.  This edit affords me both the luxury of reflection and the accuracy of detail in sharing with you my experience.  I found great comfort and inspiration in the reading of other women’s Hypnobabies birth stories during the lead up to Farrah’s birth.  I hope you do too.

Farrah was born three days before her due date on September 1st, 2011 at 2:57am in our bedroom in our home.  The anticipation of her arrival was overwhelming.  My first daughter, Ella, was born three weeks early and I assumed that Farrah’s gestation would be of similar length.  The long hot August days stretched for miles.

I had been having practice pressure waves since the first week of August and had thought on a few occasions that my birthing time had begun only to have the pressure waves trail off.  On August 31st, I attended my scheduled 39 week appointment with my midwife group.  When my midwife offered to check me, my curiosity won out and she informed me with a slight look of shock that she was unsure just how I had not yet gone into labour.  My cervix was dilated an encouraging 5cm.  My practice birthing waves were handily put into perspective and I was immediately glad for their easy lead-up.

Hypnobaby twins birthed vaginally? Why yes…

••• Reposted From Hypnobabies •••

Thanks to Anna Calloway for sharing her story with us.

“Hypnobabies taught me invaluable lessons I will take with me always. It made my pregnancy and childbirth a very positive and wonderful experience. I was determined to deliver my twins naturally, no c-section. Hypnobabies gave me the tools to use my mind and self-hypnosis to make it happen. When I delivered, both babies were head down and I was able to deliver vaginally, as I wanted.

During labor and delivery, Hypnobabies prepared me to stay calm and focused so there was no pain. I remember sitting in the bathtub during my birth thinking, ‘I can’t believe this is working; it doesn’t hurt.’

My whole experience was calm, powerful, and happy. When my babies were born, they were calm and happy as well, and they are still very calm babies.”

The birth of Lincoln Christopher

••From Hypnobabies!••

The birth of Lincoln Christopher

During my whole pregnancy, Chris and I had been planning to have a very natural Hospital birth. Every appointment we would ask our dr about doing it as naturally as possible and he acted like we could do this however we wanted. Slowly I would ask him specifics such as not being hooked up to monitors and fluids. As well as eating if I felt necessary.

Of course I started to realize then that his idea of a natural birth was VERY different than mine. He also told me every appointment that I should go ahead and watch the epidural video “just in case”. This told me that he wasn’t taking me seriously, and thought that I would resort to the epidural. Well at my 38 week appointment he informed my husband and I that he had read my chart wrong and I have had Gestational Diabetes the whole pregnancy.

Vaginal Birth After 2 Cesareans…Comfortable with Hypnobabies!

Thanks to Gina from the Hypnobabies Yahoo Group for sharing her birth story.

Brief background: 1st c-section for twin boys – scheduled due to baby positioning; 2nd c-section for youngest boy – scheduled due to my own misunderstanding of VBAC risks; successful VBA2C at 41 weeks, 1 day on 9/20/11 using the Hypnobabies home-study course for Persephone Maria

As the days after her “due date” kept passing by with no sign of baby Persephone making her debut, I thought about buying the Hypnobabies mp3 track called, “Come OUT, Baby.” I was hesitant to spend over $10 on something that may or may not work when I may or may not actually need it. I mean, she has to come out eventually, right? What’s the rush? There wasn’t a rush, really, but we were all so ready for her to join us that I decided to go ahead and get it after she decided not to show up over the weekend. So, on Sunday evening, I listened to it in the kitchen after dinner.

I woke up in the middle of the night, around 1:30 a.m., with a warm gush of fluid. I got up and went to the bathroom, leaking the whole way, underwear and legs soaked. It seemed like I peed in the toilet and then didn’t notice any more trickling fluid. I smelled the wet spots on the sheets to see if it smelled like urine, and there were some parts that did, so I resigned myself to having wet the bed like a potty-training toddler. Maybe Persephone was moving lower and caused my bladder to explode or something, even though I’d emptied my bladder around 11:30 when we went to bed.
